In Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, four individuals have been arrested in connection with a viral video that depicts a group of men forcibly removing a woman from her residence and subjecting her to physical assault. The incident unfolded in Dewal village, Kathua, just last week, prompting a formal complaint filed on Monday and the subsequent arrest of the accused, according to officials.
The video clip, spanning three minutes, portrays the woman being brutally thrashed by several individuals who forcibly dragged her from her home by her hair. The footage also captures her child crying, as reported by the police.
In her written complaint submitted on Monday, the woman detailed the incident, explaining that four individuals with criminal intentions had attacked and verbally abused her while she was at her residence.
A case has been registered against the four accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Police sources have revealed that the local villagers had expressed opposition to the woman's actions, alleging that she allowed a particular group of individuals from outside the village frequently at her home. Prior to this incident, the police had issued a warning to the group, against their visits to the village.
